The Gujarat government is all set to allow controversial French vessel Clemenceau at the Alang ship-breaking yard for salvaging 22,000 tonnes of steel despite apprehensions by environmental group Greenpeace that it contains hazardous waste.

GPCB chairman KV Bhanujan told TOI that he would announce a formal decision by the weekend only after the Supreme Court monitoring committee takes a decision in the matter after reviewing all that the ship contains in accordance with the hazardous waste rules.
