TSU — The owners of Kyokuyo Maru on Monday expressed regret over a deadly collision in waters off Mie Prefecture, that killed six crew members of the 697-ton fuel tanker.
Satoshi Sakama, president of Nanyo Kaiun which owns Kyokuyo Maru, told a press conference, "We are sorry we couldn’t return the crew members alive to their families." The Kyokuyo Maru burst into flames after being rammed by the 499-ton Nikko Maru early Friday in thick fog 28 kilometers off Cape Mikizaki. (Kyodo News)
