Dying Nenets port might get new life

    mardi 24 mars 2009

New Governor of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug Igor Fyodorov wants to revive the port of Amderma and make it a new base for the development of oil and gas fields in the Timan-Pechora province.
The governor has addressed a letter to the Arbitrary Court in Arkhangelsk where he requests a postponement in court’s handling of the port bankruptcy case. The state-owned port located north in the region along the Pechora Sea coast, is originally planned closed and abandoned.

The governor, who was appointed to the post as Nenets AO governor in late February, now intends to find investors to the port development.

Mr. Fyodorov has also sent a request to federal authorities, among them the Federation Council, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Regional Development, Regnum reports.
