A judge is concerned that the 17-member crew of the "Clipper Faith" which was detained in Dublin Port in March 2013 have not been paid since late in 2012. The crew from the Ukraine and Russia has brought proceedings alleging breach of contract, against the owner of the vessel for unpaid wages of about US$ 320,000. The ship’s owners, the Liberian registered Afternoon Maritime Corporation, say they lack the funds to cover what the crew are owed.
At the High Court the judge on May 10 made an order allowing the ship to be sold in order to cover what the sailors are owed. The judge agreed to put a stay on his order until May 14 pending an appeal by the owners.
